Sarah is quickly establishing herself as an in-demand voice teacher and vocal/acting coach in the Chicago area, with students ranging from professional actors to university performing students to beginners of all ages. Her technique is based in healthy physicality, using the body's natural resonance at its most relaxed to create a healthy sound that sounds like the singer's own voice. With background in bel canto, yoga, Alexander Technique, and some training with Estill, Sarah believes in a flexible voice that can perform in a wide variety of styles. Text is also key to unlocking both the sung voice and the actor's motivation, with the need to treat song texts as monologues to aid expression, breath, and real spoken sound.
Sarah teaches out of her home on the north side of Chicago; she is also an adjunct voice professor at Judson University in Elgin, IL. She will make house calls (if the student has a piano or quality keyboard) for an extra fee. Skype / FaceTime availability is an additional possibility on a case-by-case basis. Please contact her via this website for teaching and coaching inquiries.
